Sam Billen’s new report Headphones & Cellphones is a departure from the quirky indie pop that his former band The Billions have been recognized for. This new strategy finds Sam and not using a band giving him the chance to write down, report, and produce the entire songs on his personal. The Billions have been influenced by 90’s bands like Constructed to Spill, the Flaming Lips, and Pavement. In Sam’s solo music, The Postal Service and Sufjan Stevens have since discovered their means into the checklist of influences. Headphones & Cellphones finds him meshing these with traditional feels like Corridor and Oats, Todd Rundgren, and Stevie Surprise, inflicting him to take a soulful, extra mature, clean, and digital texture to the endearing pop songs he has at all times written.
